After receiving her Honours Degree in Criminology with a concentration in law, Ms. Macrae attended Queen's University where she completed her LLB. While attending law school, she was employed with the Crown Law Office in Toronto prosecuting Provincial Offences and Highway Traffic charges.

After graduating in 2004, Ms. Macrae articled at Bayne, Sellar, Boxall. She has been practicing exclusively criminal law with significant experience in a number of serious criminal cases.

Ms. Macrae is a Director of the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa, a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association and serves on the Youth Justice Committee in Ottawa.
