Crash leads to DUI Charge

An early morning crash has resulted in a slew of charges for a young Ottawa woman.  According to police the car was Westbound on the Queensway when it tried to drive between two police cruisers in a construction zone. The car struck one of the police vehicles.

The driver was charged with impaired driving, operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol contentover 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres (Over 80), dangerous driving and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

Multiple charges, both under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act, can frequently arise out of a single accident. The consequences of a conviction for any of the offences can be severe, including a criminal record, hefty fines, driving prohibitions and higher insurance premiums.  Drinking and Driving investigations are technical in nature and experienced defence lawyers can assist in raising possible defences to avoid the serious effects of being found guilty of DUI related offences.
